Walter spent childhood in the Teddington area. Worked apprenticeship as a garage mechanic.

Joined the Royal Navy aged 18. Official No: P/J 24475. Was resident at 55 Clarnce Road, Teddington, Middx. Served on Impregnable, Gilbraltar, Victory, KGV, Vernon, Redgauntlet, Blake, Snapdragon,Excellent, Columbine, Valiant, Chrysanthemum, Curlew, Vernon, Malaya, Cornwall,Suffolk and Kent.

Note on Wife: Mary Flora Agnes O'NEILL

Flora's Parentage is mysterous. Her Mother came from Ireland, a balletdancer.

Her father's family were wealthy and possibly came from London.

They had a large house with a greenhouse in Southampton. This survived until quite recently and was seen by her daughter Peggy Flora. Flora

remembered the greenhouse in connection with jumping up & down on a trunk and being taken to her room by her nurse so that an old man could sleep.
